Happy Thanksgiving!
Check out the process as we worked to create our beautiful wreaths:
Here we are decorating the donation box (thanks Aiyana for the stickers!) and placing our goods inside:
Once the box was full, we read a story about the importance of sharing and how sharing spreads love around the world.
Once the box was full, we read a story about the importance of sharing and how sharing spreads love around the world.
With that in mind, we took a little love from our hearts and threw it into the box before Luca's mom Laura took it away to a shelter to be received. Thank you Laura for speaking to the kids about where our donation goes.
Along with Thanksgiving, this week is also Chanukah so we started things off well with our food drive mitzvah.
We took a look at a real menorah, and then set to work on making our own menorah projects. We learned how the shamash is the "helper candle" that lights the other candles during the 8 days of Chanukah. Each child had to count out 8 felt flames. As yesterday was the first night of the holiday, we glued one flame on Day #1 and saved the rest in a baggie to be glued on one day at a time until next Wednesday night. We also had fun spinning our dreidels and eating our chocolate Chanukah gelt. We all agreed that the coin treat tastes much better if you take the foil wrappers off ;)
With all of this fun holiday hoopla we still snuck in a phonics lesson on the Letter B. The children are doing GREAT with their tracing and writing too!
