This was another great week with the wonderful books of Eric Carle. We read Mister Seahorse and learned how daddy seahorses incubate the eggs of their young in a pouch on their bellies. One friend that Mister Seahorse meets in the sea is a male fish who keeps the eggs of his young affixed to his head!
Using watercolors and some unique tools-- straws and salt-- we painted, blew and sprinkled our own Mister Seahorses to bring home to our families.
They turned out lovely and unique-- just like our little artists!
This week we also worked on the letters L and M and the sounds that they make. Our Yoga lesson followed a silly narrative about Lions who stole L and M objects from Monkeys… in the end they shared everything and lived happily ever after together :)
We've been sharpening our math minds by sorting, patterning, graphing and diagraming simple data. This week we learned about Venn Diagrams and made our own to bring home.
In Movement Class we were superheroes jumping over the whole world!

Friday's Show & Share was a lot of fun!
We enjoying sorting our L and M objects and seeing what other friends brought in.
On Friday we also read my personal favorite Eric Carle book, Papa, Please Get the Moon For Me. In the story the little girl Monica asks her father to bring the moon down from the sky so that she can play with it. Using a long ladder and aided by the moon's size cycle, her Papa waits until the moon is a small crescent and brings it down to her. We love how the pages in this book extend and fold out.
Using our bodies, we mimicked the shape of a full moon getting smaller and transitioning into a crescent moon, and then cycling back into a full moon. Then we made gorgeous painted and collaged moon pieces of art to give to our own papas.
Thank you to Alec and Evan's parents for buying us both of these sweet books from the wish list.
Below are some fun shots from playtime this week.
We've been doing a lot of elaborate block construction and detailed crafting work… there even appears to be a sunroom for chickens below!
Have a wonderful weekend! :)
PS: Thank you for the recycling items and please do keep 'em coming!
